Is this a red flag?

So, I completed my final round interview this week and was notified shortly after that I had received an (verbal) offer. The company sent me the official offer letter yesterday and the key details (start date, location, salary, manager, team, position, etc) seem to align with what HR told me on the verbal offer call.

The very next day (today), I called HR as I had a few questions regarding the offer letter and they told me that they may have to delay my start date due to internal policy reasons and that they would provide more info on the start date delay next week.

This company is pretty big (40,000 employees) so was a bit surprised by the change. Is this a red flag? Do you guys think the company may rescind my offer at this point?

Thanks!

Odd that they would cite internal policy reason. Could it be because they still need to complete the background check?

Right, the HR did mention internal policy and time for onboarding process to be the reasons for needing to push back start date. Just weird since they seemed okay with the original start date yesterday and then today they changed it for whatever reason. I haven't signed the offer letter yet and haven't gone through the background checks.

Do you think the company may be trying to rescind the offer based on this?
