Job title negotiations

I've been interviewing with a company now for the last few weeks. Got in through employee referral and networking. After about 5 hours of interviewing with everyone on the team over the last 2 weeks, I just got an email from the MD that the 2 hiring MDs want to schedule a lunch with me. :-) Good signs.

Here's my question... I've been in the industry(commercial real estate) for 4+ years now. The job they posted is for an analyst, however, I noticed this is the same job description as the associate for another office. It's important to me that as my career progresses my title is reflects my knowledge and contributions. I've done the 3+ years as a sell-side/ brokerage analyst. Is it wrong or inappropriate to try and negotiate for the associate title if they offer me the role? Anyone have any experiences with this?
