Kansas City Help

Looking to make contact with anyone in Kansas City in Banking. Relocating to KC later this year and trying to get in. Have met with what I believe to be the major players, would really appreciate some extra contacts to talk with. I realize the market is relatively small there, any help would be appreciated.

Realize that, had good traction in Chicago with BB's with some internal networking. Family is much closer to KC and want this to be final move. There are so few seats I just don't happen to have any connection to any of the players within. I am in contact with all CEO's, however. Do you happen to know anyone in the area?

George Baum is the main (only?) IB firm in KC that I know of. KC is the wrong place to be if you're looking for a job in IB, but there are solid corporate opportunities such as Sprint, Cerner, and Garmin. American Century might also be a place to look if you're interested at all in investment management.

On the basis of your last comment I'm assuming you have no experience which, depending on your background, will make it hard to get a job at any of those places. George K. Baum typically only hires one or two analysts each spring, both of which have recently started. Due to the fact that they have no formal training program their hires are typically lateral hires or dual majors in Finance and Accounting. Christenberry Collet is a senior banker dominated firm and, from what I hear, rarely hires analysts who don't have previous work experience. I'm unsure about Frontier. Those three banks really are all KC has to offer anyways, so if you're talking to the CEOs there then there aren't many other people that you need to be in contact with.

Nail on the head- no experience. Thanks for the info, this is what I had suspected. Will just try to push my way in with the contacts I already have.
