Leaving Analyst Program Without a Job
Has anyone on this forum finished the analyst program and left your firm without your next job lined up? I have been working the past 14 months in a top group at a top BB. I am grateful for the experience and what I’ve learned, but working 80+ hours/week, having no weekends, time to read, ability to socialize, etc has had its toll. I also have pretty little interest in the job and common exit opportunities (PE), which makes every day an uphill battle.
I don’t know what city I am going to be living in after the two years for personal reasons, so recruiting far in advance isn’t feasible. I am wondering if anyone here has taken a few months off after finishing their analyst stint to travel and reassess their career trajectory? Has anyone here taken a few months off after their analyst stint before reentering the workforce? Did it work out / was it as unwise as everyone he makes it seem?
