Leveraging job offer for a different one at the same firm.

Received an offer this Friday from a top-tier investment manager for their summer internship in NYC. I'm definitely interested in working there, but my position in a different side of the firm than where I wanted to work. I'm looking to get an MBA so I don't think this position really helps me in the long run, so I'm likely to decline it anyway.

But - has anyone leveraged an offer into a different position at the same firm?
