Low-Level Internships

Is there such thing as "low-level" internships as freshmen? Obviously, when you get to sophomore year, you want something IB-related or AM, HF, PE, etc, etc, even if it's regional/boutique/LMM. I'm looking for what I want to do in the summer and I've received offers for BS like insurance companies (think regional StateFarm/GEICO/Liberty Mutual) and some shit in tax that I randomly threw an application out for. Additionally, I saw a 5-day internship with a commercial banking (no IB, shit like wholesale) that I was considering applying for, but then saw I had to write a 250 word essay. Like is that really worth my time? Sure the opportunity cost is me just beating my dick, but I can't imagine something as useless and inapplicable as that would be worth writing that essay and/or spending 5 days over the summer to attend. Overall, I'm asking how I should gauge opportunities that come my way ("insight" programs to non-IB companies). Also, is working at an insurance company where I'd literally be running a social media platform and grabbing coffee be beneficial to my time as opposed to grinding technicals and working as a server at mid-tier restaurant?

Thnx for any insight.

I suppose anything is better than nothing if you have the spare time and it’s relatively close to the field you wanna work towards. You just have to know how to twist it and make it seem relevant when you talk about it in your interviews.
