Manager Research at a BB
Wanted to get everyone's thoughts on doing manager research for equities.
Basically its evaluating fund managers, their performance, then educating advisors on the fund's strategy. Somewhat comparable to ER, somewhat not. Don't know if anyone has made a similar move or role.
Tbh, not at all similar to the ER. And once you are in, it would be tough to move to the buy side unless you go through a decent MBA.
I am regularly interviewed by these people, but what they do is not even remotely close to studying a company/business/stock. You will be studying fund performance, and see if my stock pitch or a work sample is consistent with what we say our philosophies are, but you won't have the opportunity to do a security analysis yourself. (You can grill the buy side guys though in this position!)
