Masters Degree
Hello All,
Under what circumstances is it a good idea to pursue a Masters in Financial Engineering? I am a Junior at the University of Michigan studying math with a concentration in finance, and I plan on working in asset management (I'd like to work at a large, quant hedge fund), and I was wondering what masters degrees were potentially a good idea. The three I was considering were a Masters in Math, a masters in financial engineering, or an MBA. I don't want more than one, frankly, so which one would everyone endorse?
Regards!
I've always thought Columbia University's Masters in Financial Engineering program looked cool. They are well poised for location and the program is ranked highly.
I'm just a knowledge whore though. I look at all the programs in every field. But, for this yeah I'd make the move to NYC if you can. Will be a good experience.
Do you think i could do the MBA instead? To be honest, I feel like the MFE coursework would all just be repetition of my math degree.
