Master's Degree Candidate ISO Internship

WSO, This might be a helpful post for others in a similar situation. I am currently a Master's student studying international finance and economics at an international affairs / policy school. I want to break through in finance (either IB or AM) because a) I am genuinely interested in the subject b) I want to gain a skillset that can be translated in other fields c) exit opportunties. Problem is I graduated with a degree in a science and did international development work before matriculating. I do have some advantages (Columbia and NYC), however the program I'm in does not have the same resources as a business school. I've been applying to a bunch of places but was wondering if my strategy is the correct one: - Find any internship in finance this summer (hopefully in New York) - Continue interning during next year to gain more experience - Apply to analyst positions or 2-yr programs even though I have a Master's degree.

The internship hunt is the most stressful part. What do you guys recommend for someone a little older (25) and with no finance background. I don't want to be stuck in Catch 22...
