MBA or Job search

Hi everyone, I have been a follower of this forum for several months, first time poster. I graduated with a Business Degree with a Concentration in Financial Services (state school, not even close to what many call even non-targets). I passed the CFA Level 1 in June and have signed up for Level 2 in 2019. My current role is in Manufacturing, working as a Material Planner/Production Scheduler, and also covering other roles in the company including Inventory Supervisor and Press room Supervisor as needed (25% of the time). I have always wanted to break into finance, but was able to enter into my current company shortly after graduation in 2015 and progress quickly, so I decided to not bite the hand that fed me.

Well.... back in June of this year it was announced that they were closing our plant location in August of 2019. I have since been on the job hunt with little success so far. I am attempting to get into openings in IB and/or ER in the Cleveland area. This is a pretty firm location for me as my fiancee currently has 2-3 years in her PhD left. I realize that I will most likely need to network pretty hard to find any chance due to my non-existent finance work experience. I was looking at boutique firms and independent research firms in the area.

It was announced this past Thursday that we qualify for Trade Adjustment Assistance(TAA). Basically, we are able to go back to school for up to two years and the bill for tuition is paid for, and we can collect unemployment the entire time. There is no defined price limit but is listed as a "reasonable cost."

Would it be better to take whatever job I can find either as an entry level financial analyst at a corporate company or a small firm like Cleveland Research/Longbow if I can get in the door, or go back and get my MBA at a smaller school for free (Akron/Kent State or maybe Case Western if I could somehow swing it). I have already paid off my undergraduate student loans if that makes any difference with the schooling. Seems like a once in a lifetime gift, but I am unsure if it would benefit me in my effort to break into finance.

Thank you.
