Montreal Finance Scene?

Wondering what the IB/PE/HF scene is like in MTL Is there a language barrier in these positions? Comp? Exits? Recruiting? I know next to nothing so anything is appreciated. I know the city itself is supposedly said to be a young guy's dream, with all the nightlife, food and lower COL etc.

Anyways, hope someone can shed some light on it. Thanks.

Thanks for the response.

Would you say that being an only english speaking person negates or lowers the chances of an internship or FT? Is it a necessity to speak french or just a preference? Not sure if thats too specific of a question or not.

Also good surprise about the comp, would have expected it to be lower than a place like TO.

yes only speaking english plays against you. this is because of limited positions (not comparable to US at all), and most applicants are from local targets who are bilingual- in addition to the kids applying from other targets like ivey taking up spots

its definitely possible, have seen friends do it, but odds are against you compared to a position in say Toronto/vancouver/calgary
