My Current Interview Process at a PE Firm.. Insights Wanted!

After I got referred by a client that I had good relationship with, a director at a PE firm contacted me for an interview opportunity. I went into the 1st round of interview about 2 weeks ago (met with two directors of which one of them was the one that contacted me) and the interview went well. The director hit me back up the day after the first interview and invited me to the 2nd round of interview at the end of that week. Met with a managing director, a trader and had a video conference with one of the founders of the firm. The interview went well again. Feeling excited, I was expecting to hear back last week Monday but I did not hear anything back. I contacted the director last week Wednesday to ask if there are further steps and was told that there will be a modeling test that he will be sending in the 'next few days'. Almost a week has passed but I still haven't received anything. Considering the Labor Day weekend, do you guys think I should wait until next week to ask for any updates? Also, my guess is that this process is not structured at all and the modeling test didn't seem like it was prepared to be sent yet.

Waited until the long weekend is over.. Followed up yesterday and no response. This person has been good with responses. Usually within 3-4 hours max and in many occasions within 5 minutes lol. At this point, I'm assuming that I'm dinged..
