Navigating FT Opportunities for 2024

I’m currently a summer intern at a BB, sitting within their Power & Utilities group. I’m interested in either going into Tech/Healthcare investing. Healthcare banking here is alright and i’m considering switching into the tech group which is decent but not GS/MS TMT. I really cannot stand my current group and the industry I currently cover. I’m really lost on what to do in terms of what’s best for my future. I want to stay in NY, and im really wondering how fulltime recruiting will be for 2024 given the state of the economy. Any thoughts on how to approach my current situation and what would be smart?

Believe that FT recruiting will be a bloodbath given already overinflated class sizes from previous blockbuster years, would try to just secure return offer and think about lateraling later.

As someone who went through FT recruiting last year I’ll tell you it was brutal and will be 3x worse this year. Have multiple friends at top targets strike out of a job completely after not getting return offers at very solid firms. I interviewed with 12-15 firms and I got an offer very very late in the cycle.
