Need Advice: Big 4 M&A vs PE FoF
I’m fairly new to WSO but was wondering if anyone could give advice on my current situation. I am currently a first year analyst at a relatively large and well known PE investment firm that primarily operates in secondaries, co-investments, and FoF space. The work isn’t bad and the hours are reasonable but the pay is not great and neither are the perceived exit opportunities. Ultimately, I would like to be able to work at a LM or MM PE firm or HF and from everything I’ve read from this website that would be a very difficult transition. I have the opportunity to move to a one of the Big 4 (top 2) and work in their Corp Fin division doing M&A work. Should I jump at this opportunity to gain deal experience or stay where I’m at to have the best chance at my desired exit opportunities?
