Need help deciding on offer!
My end goal is to work in Investment Banking in New York for a Bulge Bracket firm. I just graduated from university.
First offer: Goldman Sachs SSG (not in NYC) Second offer: M&A Boutique Investment Bank / 50m-1b deals / 50man shop - San Francisco Third offer: Large EU non-BB bank ECM - New York
I'm leaning towards the second offer. What do you guys think?
Interested to hear what others are thinking. Goldman looks good on your resume but since it's not in the NYC office and also not IB -- it won't be easily transferable. The Large EU bank ECM group sounds like a ton of pitching for co-manager positions under the Bulge Bracket banks. I think the boutique would be the best option.
I would imagine the safest bet would be GS.. even if it isnt NYC its still GS. But go with your gut
Is the San Fran bank primarily tech, does tech interest you? Regardless, given the info provided, I would recommend what ostrich said, especially if you wanna do M&A in NYC.
If you are more product group agnostic, the EU NY ECM slot sounds pretty solid imo.
