Need Help/Advice - Next Step of Career (5-10 yrs of exp)

Need some help, ideas, advice, etc. Thanks to all in advance.

Issue: I'm looking to move to a buy-side public investing job (L/S HF, Long-Only traditional AM, whatever we want to label it), and I need help on figuring out how to get the ball rolling.

Background: -1.5 yrs banking -4.5 years sell-side equity research -1.5 yrs industry (PE portco)

So yes I am late 20s / early 30s range with no buy side experience. A bit non traditional, and that's why I'm hoping to hear some thoughtful responses here. As of now I simply plan to reach out to all of the recruiters I've worked with in the past.
