Networking Email Issue

I have been networking quite a bit for a potential internship. I've made several good connections. However, I've come into a few issues. If you've met someone in person or have emailed someone multiple times back and forth, and then when trying to contact them again, they don't respond after a few emails, what does that mean?

I am hoping it is just because they are too busy, or know that will help me once the time comes so they kind of brush my emails aside? Are there any ideas?

He's an MD, he's probably busy. Keep trying once a month until he either responds or tells you to go away. Try suggesting a certain time for a phone call or something, or asking a specific question or for advice rather than just "hows it going". This gives him / her something active and tangible to respond to.
