Networking Emails - What to do with them?

When you receive a networking email how do you typically decide if you’re going to respond? As an income SA now I feel like when I’m in the position to help others I’ll want to as much as I can. Did you feel the same way before starting / Did you follow through on that?

You shouldn't be getting or taking them until you start FT. Maybe a LinkedIn message after your SA from people at your school a year younger, but SAs are not swamped with networking.

I see most analysts start out wanting to respond to 100%, which is great, but as they get busier and more importantly, jaded, they stop responding as much. My response rate hovers around 75-90% still, I try to help everyone out but except when I'm underwater or I clearly cannot help you (resume has a 3.2, you're 2 months late, and you have no finance experience). Don't feel obligated to "push" every candidate even if they are persistent, just pass them to your analyst buddies.
