Networking Phone Call
I am hopping on a second phone call next week with someone I networked with (X coverage group) and after speaking with >5 people at the bank in different coverage groups, realized that I am more interested in Y coverage group instead of X and am not sure how to best approach in telling my network about my genuine interests and not come off offensive at the same time. I will thank him for introducing me to other people within the group for sure but don't want to straight up tell him I love this coverage group when I don't know much about it.
Also, I know there has been other threads on this but what do you normally ask on your second phone call when you have covered so much in the first other than updating them on your summer internship and re-emphasizing strong interest in the bank and so on?
EDIT: the reason I ask this is because I heard interviews may be done by coverage groups (not certain) but if that is the case, then I certainly don't want to end up telling them I am interested in Y coverage when I told them I am highly interested in X when I networked with them prior to the interview. Hope this makes sense

Do you have an offer at the bank already? Or you’re just networking?
Good question. I do not have an offer but interviews have kicked off, and my edited post explains my concern for this
Got it. IMO - Don’t worry too much at this moment to communicate which group you like better. If you’re recruiting for a SA position you’ll most likely get a generalist offer (depends by bank but that’s what most BB banks do). It’s rare that coverage groups will interview their own SA candidates so focus on GTO (getting the offer) first!
I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point. I would just ask your contacts in X group if they can put you in touch with some individuals in Y group to chat and learn about it. Reiterate to them that you really like the bank and all of the people you have met, along with being strongly interested in X group but that you would like to learn about others groups there, particularly Y group. If they think you are a good candidate they will want you at their bank regardless and it's not crazy for a potential SA / new analyst to want to check out a few groups to see what they enjoy the most and where they fit the best.
