Networking Tips for Re-Recruiting

Hey all,

I'm an incoming SA, and I'm curious about the re-recruiting process and how you network for this. I'll be working at a known MM bank this summer, just not in the location that I want i.e. not SF/NY

For those of you who have re-recruited to go upstream, I am curious how you networked for it. It's felt weird hopping on networking calls and saying how I'm looking to re-recruit before I've even started the job, and to me, this just feels like a bad look. Is there a better way to go about this? Now I know that the process for re-recruiting is fast, but I am wondering if anyone could shine some light on when I should start networking for it. Am I starting too early?

Lastly, if anyone has started in a tier 2/ tier 3 city as an SA and transitioned SF/NY for FT I'd greatly appreciate any tips on how to do this.

Thanks!

It is a fast process, and it is a bad look to do networking calls before you’ve even started. Consensus is to start networking after a week or two into your internship, and you’ll know which groups will have open spots or not that you can eventually snag for full-time if you can enter their process

Not trying to hijack this thread but I'm in the same boat and was wondering if it's ok to "catch up" with points of contact leading up to our SA stints. Basically had a coffee chat with someone in NY but I'll be elsewhere next summer. Also, never applied to the NY bank so I didn't get rejected from the bank my connections works at, don't know if that's relevant.
