Networking with boutiques in London: aggressive or gentle?
Final year student currently gunning for an IB 2021 summer internship. Given my non-target status I haven't heard from many banks, and anxiety is starting to settle in. I have a list of +100 IB boutiques to contact but still have to define a strategy.
Should I do it:
- Aggressively: send 1 cold email/LinkedIn message asking if they're taking interns, explaining that I'd be interested in working with them next summer and attaching my CV.
- Gently: Ask for a coffee chat/phone call, then try to ask if they'd be interested in taking an intern.
I feel the gentle approach would take a lot of time without any guarantee of success, so I'd be better off asking if they're taking interns directly.
What do you think?
Gently but EBs often recruit from a selective set of universities only.
Thanks a lot. I'm not talking about elite boutiques like Evercore tho, just boutiques.
Oh for small boutiques just ask for internships directly.
