Networking with senior level people?

Looking for advice on how to conduct calls with senior level people at firms that I'm looking at for full-time IB recruiting. Planning on first reaching out to junior analysts and having them introduce me to their VPs or MDs which would hopefully lead to an interview. What exactly should I be talking about in these calls? What can I do to maximize my chances of getting a referral / interview? Any advice would be appreciated, thank you
