New email thread? Or reply a year later
Re recruiting for FT and trying to leverage my return. Have to reach out to an alumni at target bank. I last spoke with him in March 2022 during my SA recruiting but never kept in touch. Should I reply on the same thread? Or start a new thread assuming he doesn’t remember me given it’s been over a year.
I personally would start a new thread and basically remind him of who you are
New thread with something like "we spoke early last year, wanted to reconnect"
in a similiar boat with mutiple contacts tho not as long as year, at the most like a few months- my thing is will he opne it? i was an intern and i still got a shit ton emails from from kids who cant even read so i am worried he wont read it
If it was 6 months or less that you last talked to them, fine to reply to the same thread
People in IB are highly trained to read their emails - they're not going to miss your email, if they don't reply they are choosing not to - it's not personal. I also don't usually reply to emails from people who are just circling back solely to keep the connection warm, I don't have time to shoot the shit with college kids who aren't actively looking for anything. If you want FT just be clear that you're looking for FT
