New User Question

Hey guys, I’ve been reading here for a while but finally decided to make an account. I know this is a stupid question but I’m hoping for some real answers in between the ones calling me a troll. I’m a freshman at a semi target and in late March emailed an alumni at GS that is a MD and I think a partner as well, asking to speak about GS and internships. I got no response until today and he said he’d like to meet in his office. I know there are no spaces left for interns at GS so is there a point in taking him up on his offer to meet? I am expecting troll comments but I wouldn’t some read advice! This is a great website and I’m looking forward to learning as much as possible.

What is your question?

If there is any point in meeting in his office after what I said in my first post? Thank for the response!

Even if there are no spots, I think it would be common courtesy to meet with him (i.e. you're the one asking for help...so if this is his time frame, even if it is 1.5 months late, then you deal with it). I guess unless you have something much better to do. And who knows, maybe something will come of it.

Sorry it's lynn k but had to change my user name. No I'm not looking for trading. I just thought that even though this guy is a md and partner, I didn't think he could do anything for me if the spaces are filled up. But thanks for the answers all even the funny toll ones lol.

Yes, not even a question. Meet with him and start fostering a relationship. Two main things meeting with him does: it makes him feel important (which is what every human being wants), and secondly it shows that you are genuinely interested. Also, this guy has serious pull in the hiring process (assuming he has the powers a normal partner and if not partner then MD would.)

Oh, ok thanks. I didn't think even a partner could do a thing about internships at this point.
