No Connections in IB Recruiting

What is the average percentage of analysts in each class have connections like family, close friend, etc? (not networking). How difficult would it be if I don't know anyone in IB, except for those that I have networked with?

How does this impact career progression?

Got it, thanks! Did you have any hooks, like target school, internships etc ?

I'm Canadian too and was in a similar position. I grew up in a very rural area and went to university in Ontario. Networking my a** off is what really made the biggest difference for me. There is nothing more valuable than being able to brand yourself as likeable and hardworking, which is difficult to do with just a resume. Also, I used my small town background to my advantage. It differentiated me from everyone else, and allowed me to tell an interesting story about growing up on a farm and moving to the city to work in finance.

I can definitely confirm it is 100% possible! I went through several rejections before getting an offer, so don't get discouraged... It takes time and practice.
