No Longer Under Consideration after VP told me I basically got the job

Interviewed at JP Morgan yesterday for a business analyst position. Interviewed with a VP, and towards the end of my interview she said that, "I would hire you right now, but HR would ask, well doesn't he need to be interviewed by a few other people?.. so I'm going to have you interview/talk with a few people on my team next week." This morning I got an email from JP saying that I am no longer being considered. Could this be a mistake? Not too sure what happened? Any insights?

It was a VP who have you that feedback, not the head of the group or an MD or someone who actually matters.

Also, very unprofessional of her to say something like that to you and get your hopes up.

I know the college kids and analysts on the forum make it seem like it’s super easy to land these jobs but it’s not and there’s could be a 100 different reasons you were passed over.

My advice would be to not obsess over it and move on to the next opportunity.

You will drive yourself insane if you keep asking yourself why.
