No return for Spring Weeks, what do I do?

As titled. Located in UK and wants to get in investment banking for S&T. Have a spring week at in BB but was unsuccessful in converting into summer offer. Now I have 2 options and wants advice on it:

1. I will apply to summer internship in S&T this year's summer. As simple as that.

2. Same with 1. But should I also apply to some spring week and do a gap year between year 2 and 3. In that year I could do off-cycles in IBD/buyside and explore my options.

Which one gives me better chances? I think option 2. gives me better chances as to break into a BB bank but is it worth it? Also could I apply to both summer internship and spring weeks later at the same firm?

Congrats on the BB, but sorry to hear that you couldn’t convert.

Was personally in your shoes as well (not S&T though) and would just reapply to summers later this year. For your first year summer maybe try to get a small AM firm/any coding related jobs if you’re trying to break into S&T. Don’t think S&T summers are that easy to find other than the big banks.

I would personally apply for those firms I really want for Summers but leave a few for Spring that I might not be super keen to do. Decide what to do (gap year or not) after getting your offers. Personally for firms I really wanted (BBs) I applied directly for the summer as I’d much rather do a summer than waste a year, and applied for EB springs instead. You could swap if you want to do a gap year. I just found the spring -> summer -> FT way too long to do it again, and just wanted to jump straight to the summers
