Off-campus Interviews

Hi all, I attend a target (3.6 GPA, excellent EC's, sub-standard work experience) and Morgan Stanley notified me through on-campus recruitment almost two weeks ago that I wouldn't be interviewing with them (applied for IBD and IM). However, I recently received an email from HR that said they received my resume and would be interested in interviewing me for the IBD SA position. The caveat is that they want to do it in their office.

I was wondering how common this is? Over break, I visited a family friend with indirect ties to Morgan Stanley, and I had him put in a good word. Could it be that this extended network manifested itself into an interview? Also, I've heard numerous stories of people jumping the gun and having only one round (as opposed to the standard 1st round followed by Superday). Is it possible that this is a similar situation?

Thanks for your advice in advance.
