Off cycle intership in the US as a US citizen going to a British univeristy ?
Firstly I'm a first year at a Semi target University in England studying Economics. I was born in America so I have the passport and my family is from the UK.
My goal is to work in the US financial sector after my degree. I applied to Springs weeks in London/EU but I keep getting rejected so doing a placement year is my last chance to get ahead of "the competition".
My course includes a placement year, it is quite big in the UK, basically you take a year between your 2nd and 3rd year of an undergrad degree to do one or two long interships. Next year I need to start applying to placements but I don't know if it is possible for someone in my situation to get an off cycle internship in the US. I'm looking for positions in asset management, wealth management and private banking (ideally S&T but that's very unlikely).
My question: is it possible ? If not, should I prioritise applying to opportunities in the UK and Europe ?
Thanks for reading.
