Offer delayed and looking for new opportunities as contingency plan

Just graduated in May 2024 with a good consulting offer that keeps getting delayed. Interested in equity research now among other things (not really considering ib or consulting since my goal is to get a job quickly and hold it in case my consulting offer is delayed again or worst case rescinded) Since it’s currently October and my goal is to get a job quickly and begin my career, I’m wondering what some good options are to go off cycle. I know with banking and consulting apps are already wrapping up for Summer 2026 start dates so this isn’t really viable. Curious as to some industries or roles that offer quicker start times and commonly recruit off cycle. I’m interested in asset management, credit, ER, and really anything related. Also, one other question, is networking important for all roles or just IB and consulting? I’m sure there is a not a definitive answer but can I cold apply online to certain roles with solid success? This is not the case for IB or consulting typically. I have a 3.9 gpa from a semi target (think ross, darden etc) and strong experience and a prestigious consulting firm if that matters. Would appreciate any advice or feedback on my situation! Thanks so much
