Ok to fly in early on weekend before interview?

I have a final round interview next tuesday where I have to fly in. Is it ok to fly in on the weekend before the interview to get a feel for the city/meet friends and family, or is this a big nono? If I do, should I let HR know, they outsource travel arrangements to a 3rd party ? The company reimburses flight/hotel.

I'll be staying at friends/family place and won't check into a hotel until the night before the interview.

Thanks

My company strongly encourages this for our applicants who don't have exposure to Boston. As long as we're not picking up extra nights worth of hotel tabs or greatly increased airfare, its fine by us.

Since you already have friends/family there, it probably isn't a big deal.
