On-Campus Mock Interview -> Real Interview?
There are a number of companies offering mock interviews at my university next month and I signed up with one of the participating firms. Although its a mock interview, what are the chances of me landing a real interview if I perform well? Have any of you gotten a real interview out of a mock?
Grain of Salt Disclaimer: speculation.
From what I've gathered, networking is what you make out of it. So, "what are the chances...of landing a "real" interview?" The odds of getting an "official" on-the-books interview is directly proportional to what kind of relationship you foster with the mock interviewer. So treat it as if it is a first stage interview that you were lucky to get through school connections. It's what it is.
Build a good rapport, then follow up on it. You can't do anymore, you shouldn't do any less.
Make the best of it by:
1) getting the interviewers business card 2) follow up within 24 hours thanking them (assuming theyre away from office for 1 day, otherwise if later you can wait 2-3 days) 3) they should respond to 2), if not follow up a week later and ask what the next steps should be for you to secure a second/final round.
