One year work experience since graduation, what next?
Hi guys, I've been reading lots of posts from this community and found very helpful and tons of tips and insights of this industry so it's a pleasure to do a first thread and hopefully will help others too in a similar position.
I need some advice regarding my next steps. I'm currently doing a graduate scheme in corporate banking at a kind of In between bank, not BB but not MM neither, especially when it comes to CB. Anyway, my goal is to break into IB M&A and I don't know which is the best way to get there, as I have applied to several offers and got constantly rejected, not even interviews chances... so I assume my profile isn't strong enough yet. However I did internship at a considerable big Management Consulting firm, but not Big 4.
Shall I stay in CB, get into a top MBA and then move to IB, or go back to consulting and then MBA? I would rather be at consulting honestly, as I enjoy more the day to day job, however it might be better to stay in credit at CB for more time and then do some extra education to move to M&A..
Thoughts? Any tips on how to structure my cv to keep trying the jump into M&A?
I have the feeling that having one year of experience might be the issue here, as most of the job ads i have applied they where looking into someone with at least 2 years.
