PE recruiting given investment banking exodus
Given the lateral frenzy this recent past year, was wondering what the competition would look like since many of the people have departed the industry this past cycle.
Also, not too many people in my group have quit 2/ 10 from my analyst class so was wondering what competition from other BB and boutique bank groups might look like for buy side.
Still going to be ultra competitive; the people who were dead set on PE stayed in banking and tons of the lateral hires will also be interested in recruiting. Might be marginally fewer people but I don’t think it will make a difference frankly.
Interesting take for sure, didn't account for laterals. Might be weird - but in my group, besides the normal 2nd year analyst turnover not may first years have been deciding on leaving idk if that's the case everywhere though.
I've seen less turnover at some firms, I think it's a fact it's a bitch to recruit to buyside, you gotta prepare from 2AM-4AM, and it's grueling.
When your on a string of live deals, it's very very hard to recruit. Doing a PE case study after sleeping only 4 hours is not for everyone. And you have multiple rounds.
less turnover than usual (2018-2019) or less turn in comparison to other groups, all our group heads have been saying on conf calls are that he highlights how well our group has been about keeping everyone
Not sure there was an exodus at the analyst level. Had 1 analyst leave out of my class of 35 at EB.
