Penn International Rel. change to Econ, worth the GPA hit?

I know this course is generally covered in past topics, and I have read many threads that are kind of similar. But I figured my situation is slightly different given my below avg. liberal arts GPA, rising senior status, and no business experience.

So, quick bits of info.
3.5 International Relations major at Penn
Econ minor
Rising senior
business frat but no other relevant extracurricular involvement
looking to intern at a small firm this summer

Is it worth it for me to switch my major to full Econ and sacrifice my GPA? (It would probably dip to 3.3 due to Econometrics and etc..) I would also probably have to stay an extra year then since I am a transfer too. I am thinking of Econ because I know a few Poli. Sci and Intl. Rel. without a legit business job lined up...

If an Econ major is not too necessary, is Political Science considered fairly equivalent to Intl. Relations by recruiters/interviewers? I have developed an interest for Poli Sci classes recently and am considering switching. If I try to take some Finance and Accounting classes as Poli Sci/Intl. Rel., I would probably have to stay an extra semester. Would that be a good idea?

By the way, I am most interested in Asset Management and Consulting.

I would REALLY appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I think you should make up your mind. You are thinking of switching to Econ, Poly Sci, and Finance/ Accounting?? And, you are a rising senior...

to answer your first question, switching to econ won't help you that much for consulting recruiting. consulting employers don't care that much about your major. once you get the interview, it's all about acing case interviews and selling yourself to the employer
