PIMCO Portfolio Compliance Associate Position

I got an interview for the Portfolio Compliance Associate position (job description below). Is that considered the same as a portfolio management / associate position? I would not want to be relegated to the compliance department... The position requires a "90% or better on the Compliance Assessment and MS Excel test".
If anyone knows about the approx pay, please share as well. I have about 4 years of experience in management consulting, undergrad from Columbia, a Master's (not an MBA) from Univ of Cambridge, , so it was a pleasant surprise that PIMCO was actually interested in me...

Thanks!

"The Portfolio Compliance Associate position is a challenging and multifaceted role where responsibilities include analyzing account transactions and portfolio holdings in order to conduct a full compliance verification for all separate accounts and offshore mutual funds. Position requires research of potential compliance issues, client reporting, and working with Account and Portfolio Management in an effort to resolve outstanding violations. The role also includes participation in various ad hoc projects, such as process developments and improvements, scenario analysis, and technology testing. The position affords the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and challenging workplace with highly motivated and intelligent professionals."

Thanks guys! I think I'll just go through the interviews and see what they are like, but yeah I don't think this is what I want to do even if I get an offer.
