PIVOT…seriously though, IB recruiting advice needed.

alright WSO, It’s now or never…pivot to IB from WM or give it up.

Entering my mid 30’s, CFA completed pre-Covid, recently completed MBA from a top 15 program in NYC. Currently at a 3 letter BB as a strategist in their WM division where I’ve been for about a 9 years. During MBA (part time while working but completed in 2.5 years because of Covid) couldn’t afford/risk leaving current role for a summer associate role so my resume lacks the IB experience.

At this point, looking for an associate role (probably considered off-cycle) in the restructuring or private markets arena since this is probably going to be an area of interest given move in rates / business cycle getting long in the tooth but not much traction.

For those in IB, who may have been in my shoes, what’s the best path forward here? Keep cluster bombing applications online until something miraculous happens or is the real path to IB aggressively networking and having another IB associate pull me in?
