Playing the Interviewer

So I got an interview call today from X "Capital"... must have been a random app I submitted... I thought it was an IB position and the first thing she asked was what I was looking to do after graduation

To be general without knowing anything about the firm, I mentioned I was looking for finance-intensive position and that I have been applying to IB internships

turns out it was a prop trading internship... and I started to say stuff about how interested I was in trading...

In the future, what is the best way to find out first about the firm before running your mouth?

throw your smartphone on speaker and quickly google the shit out the name?

Still not sure if I want to spend the next 30+ years grinding away in corporate finance and the WSO dream chase or look to have enough passive income to live simply and work minimally.

samiam1234yeah during interview season i never picked up a random number because most of the time it would be hr and didn't want to f'up...voicemail lets you do it on your time, not theirs

What about with small firms and non-IB, is letting it go to voicemail ever dangerous?
