Prime Brokerage- First Round

Hi everyone,

I have a first round prime brokerage interview coming up, it's for an intern position. The role itself is risk management related however it is still considered an S&T internship. Does anyone have any idea as to whay could come up in the intetview?

Thanks

-Understand the basics of stocks, bonds, converts, options, futures, and FX as you'll most likely be dealing with just about every security that HF's have the ability to trade actively. They could ask anything from what a delta is to what a future is. -Be vaguely familiar with VBA or some coding language. It's not a necessity, but very useful skill to have. I've had people ask if I was familiar with VLOOKUP and other common excel functions. -Understand what margin, leverage, and short sales are. -Think about what may make one portfolio riskier than the other and why you would prefer a portfolio that is hedged with both shorts and longs versus a pure long portfolio.

They may not ask all of these question in a first round, especially for an internship, but having the basic understanding of them will help you shine.
