Prospects after 2 Year Valuation/Advisory Development Program
I'm graduating from a five year MSF program in June (4 years at non-target, 1 year at semi-target). My goal is to get into IB or PE but I don't have strong internship experience which is definitely holding me back (had some serious sports injuries that kept me from working the summer after junior year). I just got an offer from a smaller, middle-market valuation/advisory firm in NJ for a two year associate development program. The firm has a national presence, strong reputation and has been around for 75+ years. It should be a great learning experience and give me some exposure to their M&A activity amongst other things while allowing me to develop my modeling/analytical skills. I want to know what the prospects look like after the two years. Is it possible to make the move into IB or PE given I'll be doing a lot of advisory work with public and private companies and how likely is it? I know I'm behind the curve already so should I just take the job or wait and see if something better comes along in the next few months before I graduate? The job requires me to relocate and the salary is average so I want to make sure there's good potential afterwards.
would this happen to be Duff and Phelps in Morristown, NJ?
