Question: With everyone WFH, do you think someone could hold down two full time jobs?

Just a thought I had, effectively, as company's always talk about the "war for talent" could someone have two full time jobs at two different company's if they wfh.

I see two ways it could work: 1. You do it in secret, but it would take a lot of coordination and "understanding" managers. I think you would have to be very good at negotiating why work is late or why you're unavailable.

  1. This could actually become a reality and company's would welcome it. Could backfire and companies just move to completely contracted work. I'm not saying banking guys could have two jobs, but maybe some accounting roles.

Don't know if someone has actually done this or knows of a story; when I left public accounting I actually thought about not telling the company and seeing how long I could collect two paychecks as I was unassigned at that point, but decided against it.

Man, there is no way this would work.

One, how many hours do you have in a day to complete full time duties for 2 different jobs?

Second, if you were to apply to a second job while still having your first one, they would conduct a background check and probably find out that you are still employed in company A.

Finally, don't see any scenario where a company would welcome it. Not only could it be a productivity/work quality headache, but also a compliance one. Even assuming that you find a job in a totally unrelated field (unlikely due to your experience), you would then need to manage productivity/quality issues as well as time management nightmares.

Don't see any scenario where this would work unless you work part time.
