Quick Interview Questions(Please Help!)

Hi guys,

I have an interview for a financial analyst position on Friday. I had a phone interview last Friday with the hiring manager and it went great. Unfortunately, due to my nerves I failed to take notes in regards to what he mentioned the job would entail(a little different than what is in the job posting). I have a murky idea of what he said. Would it be a bad idea to email him and to get confirmation on what the job will entail? I want to know just so I know how to best prepare myself for the interview. Or will I come off as someone who is incompetent?

I also messaged someone at this same company(VP in corporate finance) to try and set up an informational interview(before I found out that I would be interviewing with the company.) Should I pursue this interview and just go about it without mentioning my interview this Friday or should I pounce and leverage this informational interview, saying that I have an interview this upcoming Friday and wanted to learn about the division and culture at this company. I don't want to come off as some douche that is just trying to take advantage of this informational interview opportunity.

Thanks for reading guys. Any help will do.

I think you should definitely try to get in touch with the VP. It would've been better if you had reached out earlier, but it's worth trying. I don't think anyone would consider it a "douchey" move.

It seems like you're pretty rattled up. Don't waste your time worrying about coming off as "incompetent" or "douchey". Rather, just show initiative and confidence. Relax, and prepare your ass off for the interview. Good luck.
