Quitting IB internship at Top 3 after just 1 month

Hi guys.

at my second BB internship at the top 3 rn. Considering quitting because this is hell. Only completed 1/3 months. Have my mid-term in two weeks.
I have another internship lined up (the last of the top 3). My bigger problem is that I realized IB is nothing for me. I feel like a real failure.

Any tips?

Assuming you are at MS IBD, maybe better to do half of it so you have some experience and then can re-recruit for smthing else from there

or maybe finish all of this first internship and don’t bother with second one unless u need income

former MS intern so can resonate as it was hell

Thank you for your comment! Was at MS before this, and tbh my first experience was way better. I still understand you tho. I am really trying to push through. I feel like I am not grateful. I know what others would do to be in my position. Staffer of my third internship in Q2 is chasing me. How do I tell one of the Top 3 I changed my mind? I know I sound like a d*ck

If you have no intention of working in this industry then I see no reason why you should suffer

you have MS experience on ur cv which is good and you will get a lot of call backs from other firms.

i mean depends on you, did you convert MS? Do u want the FT job

after my MS experience I was so done with IBD but for some reason panic applied for other IB places, got AC’s for top 3 banks and they didn’t go well as it was obvious I wasn’t too passionate about the industry. I get the point that ppl will die to be in our position but you must put yourself first ALWAYS

Now I’ve ended up with an offer in another division where there is WLB at a BB

Also another point to note, let’s say you do these 3 internships and you re-recruit for non IB. You may be asked why you did that many IB internships given you weren’t interested in the industry

with a lot of IB experience it might become hard to pivot outside as you look too specialised in that field

However I do not know ur long term goals, whether you want to go to PE. I am saying this assuming you want to completely pivot outside IB

Thank you so much for your insights! I am trying to pivot to fundraising / IR at bx/kkr. So you would say to complete GS/JP and then pivot towards a PE fund? Or quit immediately? I am a post grad, I cannot just do nothing
