Reaching out to Alumni at Firm after Application
Hi everyone,
I applied to an Associate position at a small Corporate VC (15 people, Northeast) and realized that one of the partners is an alumnus of my undergraduate school. I wanted to reach out, but this seems a bit superfluous.
Question: Is this a bad idea? If not, should I disclose that I already applied and ask for a quick call to talk about my background and the industry in general? This firm mainly invests in an unusual sector which aligns very well with my background, so I wouldn't have any issues asking genuine, interesting questions. Thanks!
