Recommendations for Summer

Currently I am looking to get ahead by doing something finance related this summer, but my resume lacks anything relevant to finance and I am not in a target school. Below I have two questions that I could use advice one. I will list them numerically to make it a bit easier to visualize

  1. What is the best recommendation you have for a freshman in terms of getting an internship for the summer? I have been looking at many summer programs but I feel as if my resume and experience can’t compete compared to sophomore and junior applicants

  2. Following that question, are their any recommendations you can give besides an internship that would look good, just as well, that would be beneficial for me to do this summer and that I would be able to include on my resume for the following year. Currently I am planning to take my SIE Exam this month and am gonna follow up with the Series 7 exam potentially. Is that something useful to include a resume / is there any other alternatives that I should also focus on including in my resume that I can do this year.
