Recruiting in Chicago vs NYC
Looking for advice on where to recruit. Go to a semi target (UVA, Northwestern, ND). I feel like there are more alums from my school in NYC, but honestly would prefer Chicago. As someone trying to break into the industry, should I go all out for Chicago or follow the alumni base to NYC?
Have some experience with this, if ur NU you can get great looks anywhere in Chi
While you may have less connect in chicago, a lot of them might be more willing to help compared to their NYC counterparts given the competition for chicago is slightly less, IMO give chicago a good shot
Chicago is so goated for banking lol most banks pay the same base as NYC and it’s 1/2 the cost to live here for 3/4 the fun of NYC
It’s not goated
Chicago banks are loaded with Northwestern and ND alumni and most recruit heavily from those schools. Kellogg MBAs are also well represented.
UVA less so and unlikely a core school for those offices, but you’ll still get plenty of looks. Tell a good why chicago story and it won’t be an issue.
Any insight on Umich and Cornell’s pipeline to Chicago? Appreciate that comment
UM has a solid presence. Cornell I haven’t seen much of.
I would say UM has a decent presence but NYC presence is much larger for UM
