Recruiting timeline is ridiculous

Recently got an offer (summer 2022) from a bank which I would be happy to work at. The caveat is that I only have a week to accept and would still be interested in exploring other options. It is insane that the timeline for recruiting has moved up to the point where it is now. Do banks actually think this is a good way to find candidates? If a kid has gotten a 4.0 just taking plant bio or whatever other bullshit gen ed classes through their first 1.5 semesters of school how can you possibly judge how they’ll perform in a real world job or whether they’re actually interested in finance?

LOL some of these diversity programs offer internships for the next two summers to freshmen. 7 months into college and I get a summer internship for 2022 at a top MM and it includes a return offer for 23 unless I fuck up massively.

It was nice going through recruiting for SA 2021. As a result of COVID, many banks delayed recruiting which allowed me to prep for IB recruiting much better and focus on a couple of banks at a time. I personally signed an offer with a bank that I wouldn't have been able to recruit at if the recruiting wasn't delayed. also, at my non-target, our IB program still hasn't moved with times and starts only in the spring of the sophomore year (right when recruiting picked up this cycle), so I wouldn't have been up to speed. Kinda happy the way recruiting worked out last year.
