Recruiting to JPM as Non-Target
I am a rising sophomore at a nontarget school. I have been having networking calls for the past few weeks and they have been going well and I feel more comfortable after each and every call.
I recently spoke with a banker at JPM who noted that networking does not play a part in their networking process. As such, I want to put something into the abyss of WSO and see gauge the validity of this (not that I am questioning him, just seems a bit odd) and how to approach recruiting to this firm as a non-target? Any and all advice is appreciated.
I did 0 networking, dropped my resume into the black hole did my hirevue and got the superday, just have faith and pray
It’s helpful in interviews (speaking to culture, show you know what you’re getting into), but have heard it won’t move the needle on getting you to the interview.
It's the only firm that's like this for SA recruiting so networking well will leave you in good hands for every other process.
Unless you're diversity or a top target student applying to select buyside roles, you will need to network to get interviews at pretty much any other reputable firm outside of JPM.
Current first year at JP. From a non-target, had to full-time recruit from a boutique. Might not secure internship but full-time recruitment is another pathway in.
