A month ago I interviewed with a bank, I haven't heard back so I naturally assumed I was no longer in contention for the job. Yesterday, I get an email inviting me to a networking event for other departments of the bank at the HQ of the bank which are in another city.
Do you think it is worth going to?

Bingo. Be honest. Tell them you'd like to go but you're a bit confused since they rejected you.
This may be an HR mistake or it may be that enough people liked you and they want to give you a second chance for their other teams.
Thanks. I'll call them tomorrow to figure out what's going on. They said in the email (which is standard, they must have sent the same to everybody) that they liked me and think I would fit in very well in the company. But since this is a networking event I don't know how to take it.
