Resources/Advice on Finding Out How Bank Teams are Structured (esp M&A teams)
Friends, are there any guides or write-ups that go over how groups within a bank are structured (i.e. do they have a separate M&A team or is it embedded in coverage)?
I'm recruiting off-cycle for full-time M&A associate and I'm DDing banks to have enough background before reaching out to my contacts (not all of them are close buddies so I need to credibly understand the banks I'm interested in from day 1)
My current strategy is to research this forum as much as possible, which isn't time efficient (search bar is buggy, among other issues)
While you're here, do you happen to have any corrections/input on the following intel I gathered:
GS:
- No M&A group. All teams do M&A internally
JPM:
- Has M&A group that works alongside coverage groups (the latter seems to do all the work)
- Unclear whether M&A group covers all groups or the groups that don't do M&A internally
MS:
- Has a generalist pool where you do M&A and rotate across sectors (except tech who has its own team)
BAML:
- No intel yet
- Generalist program with M&A team covering all sectors
- No intel yet
- No intel yet
